What about the version of the packaging-guide package in 7.04? Was
this the same text as the 6.10 online, or is it what you're looking
for, and just not available on the web site?

Regarding the actual question, it would probably be more confusing
(IMO) to have something attempting to be version-neutral, and
therefore being "a little bit wrong" for everything. However, we
should maintain documentation for all releases. I remember this sort
of thing coming up before within the doc team, regarding tagging
various tutorials on the wiki for which release they were applicable
too. In the case of large packages of documents that all go with a
particular release, perhaps we should have a /PackagingGuide homepage
of sorts that then refers to sub-pages for every currently supported
release (and likewise for any other similar documentation).
