xml to pdf - potential replacement technology?

Hi Matt,
I'll check this out if its OK with everyone - especially apt given the work
I've just done for the Desktop Training.
I've got to admit that the current conversion tools are terrible, dblatex
does a good job but customization is severely limited. Apache FOP is quite
flexible in this respect but is very tempremental and has difficulty with
links and indexs.
