I suspect the phrase's etymological roots are to be found in the "Soup Nazi" 
episode of Seinfeld, which most people (but probably not all) found 
hilarious.  It's obviously meant in jest, but this isn't the first time I've 
heard from someone in a global online community that it ought to be avoided.  
So, although it's aimed at me and I'm not personally offended, I agree with 
Jeff.
