I think that for the immediate future Ubuntu _is_ using the gnome
desktop not kde. So only if something is kde specific should that be
mentioned.

I hope I'm not going to start seeing references to how to do things in
kde in the ubuntu docs. When/if Canonical gives _official_ support for
Kubuntu then that's a whole different story.
