The barrier is greater than you think. The export to docbook will not give you 
the same neat and tidy docbook you have now. Team will spend many hours 
fixing formats.

OOo is a WYSIWYG editor. You will find that it is all to easy for authors to 
use features of the editor that have everything to do with formatting and 
layout.

I suggest that you will need to ensure that contributors use a limited 
template and apply some rules to what they can and can't do. Otherwise, it 
will be hard work.
