That is probably a problem in communication between the developers and the doc
team, because as far as I know, the add/remove programs feature has been
actively developed for several months. I think it is a mistake to ignore new
features in a document that is shipped with breezy. Of course you will need
snaptic for some things in the faq guide, but synaptic could be described as the
advanced way of installing programs instead of the easiest way. (btw.
gnome-app-install has been part of ubuntu since hoary, it only wasn't very
useful back then)
