Great.

I agree that calling a section "Software Management" is not really very
user friendly. However, I think we should think of a title which makes
it clear that the section deals with installing, removing and upgrading
programs. I can't immediately think of anything though.

That would be great. I will start helping with the guide now; up til now
I've just done a fair amount of talking, and not enough helping, so I'll
start hacking and give you a hand!
A couple of comments about something I saw earlier this evening (this
may or may not be indicative of other parts of the guide):
Basic Compilers (build-essential)
* Read the section about adding the Universe and Multiverse
repositories
* Install the build-essential package with Add/Remove Applications (See
the section on addding applications to your Ubuntu system)
* Development > build-essential
First thing is that this doesn't actually have anything which explains
what the thing does.
Second thing is how it handles package management: it refers to the
universe and multiverse repos (which I believe are not necessary for
this particular package) and then specifies a specific piece of
software. How about referring people to the section on installing
packages (which has a number of different solutions for installing
packages: gai, synaptic, cli etc) and simple telling people what
repository the things are in (build-essential is in main):
Basic Compilers (build-essential)
This installs all the tools necessary for compiling source code blah
blah
To install it:
* Refer to the section about Installing Software
* Install "build-essential" (main)
