I agree somehow with that too.

But have you thought about something like MediaWiki's "Discuss" pages?

Even if a wiki page would be locked, the discuss page could be open,
so that additions, corrections, etc. that people have won't get
lost...

(AFAIK MoinMoin doesn't have this option, but...)
