I think we DESPERATLY need a grub/winXP newbie HowTo

Agreed.

I think there's problems with grub on the live cd as well, which boots 
on one of my machines but not the other.

Anyway, I can't volunteer, as I don't have WinXP, nor much knowledge of 
Grub. Can anyone else step up?
