it is semanitics.  I think we are all thinking of the same thing here 
but sometimes the way we all use the English language makes it difficult 
to see the same vision.

I often find myself about to use a phrase that just doesn't work for 
speakers of English as a foriegn language (such as Ben's Grafter, which 
makes perfect sense to another Brit) and sometimes the subtulties we see 
is a word are totally at odds.

Leader also brings to mind pictures of Hitler and other such images to 
my mind so perhaps that's also a British thing.  Although it could be 
that I have spent most of the last 10 years as a contractor and hate 
having a *real* boss ;-)
