artwork references (don't worry - no controversy!)

Thanks Sivan!

So it sounds like the general rule is to do what you want (within
reason), and if it's bad, someone will tell you. :-) That works for
me.

Since I haven't introduced myself to the doc team, I'll take this
opportunity to do so instead of sending another message. I've been a
graphic designer for almost 15 years and a web designer for almost 8.
I work full time as a graphic designer at a beer distributor (yes, the
benefits are great!) and own my own design company which is usually
just a part time thing. As far as web design goes, most would consider
me a "web standards evangelist" - I've been using XHTML and CSS since
before the browsers actually supported them. :-)

Lastly is one negative topic that will unfortunately limit my
involvement with the doc team. I've had two surgeries in the last year
to repair ruptured discs in my back. Both were technically successful,
but my body isn't doing what it should to compensate for that.
Therefore, I'm off work, on lots of medication, and can't sit at the
computer for long periods of time (and my laptop died. DOH!). In the
coming months I will most likely have another surgery to fuse the
lower part of my spine, with six months to a year in bed afterward (in
other words, you probably won't see me online much!). So, I said all
that so everyone would know why I may start something on the website
or wiki and then not touch it for a few days. I'm probably in bed.

Hmm... I probably shouldn't end on such a depressing subject... well,
many of my online friends are doing a laptop fundraiser for me, and if
things continue I'll probably have an iBook before the end of the
year! Yay for computing in bed! :-)
