I've filed https://bugs.launchpad.net/bzr/+bug/992245 for this.

Er, backports? Where?
Barry's second command is misleading because he's written
"bzr branch ubuntu:debootstrap precise" when ubuntu:<packagename> now
denotes the quantal branch.
