Providing icons for multiple themes

Hi all,

I developed a system monitor indicator called SysPeek, and I'm
wondering if there's a proper way to provide icons for multiple
themes. I build a package that installs icons in
/usr/share/icons/ubuntu-mono-dark and
/usr/share/icons/ubuntu-mono-light and it seems to work, but I'm not
sure if this is a good idea. Is there any documentation about this?
