Just for the avoidance of doubt, my intention was not to suggest that
the process that was followed was appropriate. The quote that you've
objected to is something I've taken from Jono's original post and
wasn't necessarily something that I've independently checked. My
intention was simply to explore whether the process could have been
done differently so that the objections that people are raising could
have been considered at an earlier stage and discussed transparently
with the TB.

It sounds to me like the answer is that these types of processes
should be discussed on this list, before they are approved by the TB.
