Additionally, the place where it was being held was not announced at
any point that I'm aware of, just that it was going to be in the US.
As often times a person needs to make sure they can even attend before
trying for sponsorship it would have been nice to have a bit more time
to decide.

FYI: Apparently UDS-L will be in Dallas, TX based on the wiki page.
