We're not actually soliciting test results for this version of the
driver on Jaunty, but we do have a PPA with a backport of it to Jaunty
if you wish to play with it for your own purposes.

However note that many of the remaining issues with the Jaunty Intel
driver actually need kernel fixes, not an updated 2D driver.  Many have
reported that after moving to a 2.6.30 kernel the issues resolved.
Other fixes were provided in libdrm.  Beyond that, yes there are also
fixes in the -intel 2.7.99.1 driver; my guess though is that you need
fixes from the other packages.  Anyway, the X bits are available in the
xorg-edgers PPA:

There is a 2.7.1 driver available in the x-updates PPA, which is a
stable release with some fixes compared with the 2.6.3 driver distribted
in Jaunty.  For production systems I would recommend running that 2.7.1
version, and the 2.6.30 kernel, with UXA turned on, but not KMS.
