At alpha and beta times I usually do an installation to my USB stick
which I keep on my keyring. When I run into a computer (at my parents,
or a friend's place) I just plug it in and do a general check. In most
of these cases I can't spend a lot of time with debugging, but at
least it gives me a good overview about how well it's working, and
since it's a real installation and not just a live image, I can
collect and store logs, etc.
