This experimental option should be removed from the 
ubuntu freeradius build:

--with-udpfromto

it prevents radiusd from starting on a clean ubuntue 8.1 desktop
since it also has configured IPv6

Error: "could not bind to port", but standard radius port is free
on a ubuntu desktop 8.1


To detect this issue by debugging is not easy and probably 
exceeds the knowledge of a standard user
one normally suspects some other process blocking the port
or wrong radius.conf

the above option is clearly marked experimental by the freeradius team
