I was reading some time ago on planet Ubuntu about dimdim.

It's free, it's open-source, you can set your own dimdim server if you want,
and it allows to share docs, have tchat sessions, use micro/webcam using
flash, and even share your desktop if you're on windows or mac (linux coming
soon they say).
