The communication is a problem for an experienced developer as you
describe if new to Ubuntu and it's processes. As an example.

Unless Saivann Carignan had been involved in this bug and pushed it
for sponsoring I would have been scratching my head and probably been
annoying Sebastien Bacher by email over getting the proposed fix tested
and included.

Once a bug reaches a certain point and you hit sponsorship, everything
goes dead and who knows what is happening. Finding information on how
things will progress from that point is not supplied via LP through
email notification or another simple method. To find out processes you
are left to dig around the dev team wiki and the docs are not the best.

Note: The upstream bug is now closed. Just waiting for automated update
for LP to take place and match upstream status.
