This can affect other aacraid controllers such as PERC2/QC aka Adaptec
AAC-364 aka HP NetRAID 4M.

There are other causes that make it impossible to boot unless a 2.6.25
patch is included:

See launchpad bug #214814 "BUG: soft lockup - CPU#0 stuck for 61s!"

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/214814/comments/3

This appeared to be an aacraid issue, then firmware, then ACPI then PCI
and finally back to ACPI again!
