Imagine the case where a significant body of developers find the change 
unhelpful, but the average user likes it. If we revert, it's bad PR. If 
we don't revert, we risk alienating an important section of our users. 
Doing it at the start of a cycle means that we have enough time to 
ensure that the developers are happy, without risking upsetting our main 
userbase.
