Sure. You can have couple of networks with same router IP, but only one
has MAC address xx:yy:zz:yy:dd:rr. Gentoo does this very good. It
detects network (by known MAC addresses), then uses dhcp or static
(depending on preferences). If it discovers new network, it searches for
DHCP. If there is no DHCP server, it sniffs the network and tries to
find free IP address in local network subnet.
