I just want to point out that with a small patch to dpkg it's possible
to use lzma compression.
Even if you just use lzma compression for OpenOffice and pre-depend on
a fresh enough dpkg version you save 20 MB on the alternate CD, so it
would be unnecessary to render the default install CD useless because it
comes without a working text editor (vim).
