Ruby is broken on edgy/powerpc

Hi,
Ruby has been broken for a long time in edgy on powerpc, causing a lot
of FTBFS. I don't know how to solve that without buildd access, or
access to a powerpc system.
It seems that it was not properly built (binpkg rdoc1.8 is missing). The
interpreter also segfaults when building some packages (e.g [0]).
On a related topic, ruby1.9 also segfauts while building[1], but the same
package compiles fine in Debian.
Could somebody with enough power investigate this ?
Thank you,
