Depends on the severity of the bug report. dapper-updates is for bugfix
updates that are not neccessarily security related and dapper-backports
even accepts more.

imho that's the best way to go. If you can point out the bugs/patches in
a bugreport on launchpad, then it's easier for ubuntu developers to
decide whether to include them in dapper.
