First of all, this is the wrong place to post such questions. This
list is for Ubuntu development. That said, I was kinda interested and
busted out my old webcam. Try this command:
gst-launch v4lsrc ! xvimagesink
and see if you can see yourself. You should probably post elsewhere
for more help though.
