AC_CHECK_LIB does not seem to work in edgy

Hi,

First, I hope that I'm not OT here. I tried the users list with no luck
which is why I'm reposting here.

My problem is with the AC_CHECK_LIB macro in edgy. I have no problem
getting the same configure.in to work in FC4, FC5, FC6 beta or gentoo
but I simply can't get it to work in edgy.

The reason I stumpled upon this problem is that I'm trying to build
evolution-brutus(*) in edgy. The problems starts with the AC_CHECK_LIB
macro in my configure.in file (at line 354) - it never succeeds. Even
something as simple as:

AC_CHECK_LIB([m], [main]) 

fails. Can anyone help me with this?
