Indeed and it seems that with the next major release of network manager
will be using something other than the keyring, which makes the wireless
key issue less urgent.

Having said that, it would be nice if the pam/keyring module was
available, or even included by default, so most of the time the keyring
would be transparent, but could have its password changed to increase
security (or perhaps default to the other way around).
