Thanks - I just used 'debian-installer/framebuffer=false'. Anyway. It's
strange because it starts in VGA mode (correctly), with good performance.
After it switches to text mode the performance is *very* poor. Is there any
way to detect that it's running under VMWare, and disabling the framebuffer
by default? or at least... adding a option to the menu such as 'install
under VMWare'?

Also, I did face a problem (and I'm opening a separate bug for that): it
froze during the install when using the framebuffer, in the "validating
zlib1g" step. Didn't find any info on the Web, or on the list itself.
