I'm pretty sure you can instruct the installer to not use framebuffer<br>mode and just use text. I don't remember the option offhand but it<br>should be in the cheat-sheet f1,f2,f3, etc menus somewhere when you<br>first boot the cd.

After it switches to text mode the performance is *very* poor. Is there any way to detect that it's running under VMWare, and disabling the framebuffer by default? or at least... adding a option to the menu such as 'install under VMWare'?
<br><br>Also, I did face a problem (and I'm opening a separate bug for that): it froze during the install when using the framebuffer, in the "validating zlib1g" step. Didn't find any info on the Web, or on the list itself.
