Hello all,

Yesterday, I've downloaded an installed 20060520 (As mdz suggested me to
test entire distribution + Georgian language support) build
(http://cdimage.ubuntulinux.org/daily/20060520/dapper-install-i386.iso,)
that finnaly has georgian font support and this font package is
ttf-bpg-georgian-fonts-0.2.

After choosing Georgian localisation ftom
System->Administration->Language Support, I was surprised because there
was another georgian font installed.

BUT This font has a big error. 2 Georgian letters are confused. After
investigation
I found out this package and with fontforge software I've found
erroneous georgian character in a .sfd source.

The package name is ttf-freefont(version: 20060126b, I've downloaded
source from ubuntu repository)

The font with erroneous georgian character source is FreeSerif.sfd (it's
unic in this font family that contains georgian alphabet).
I've made a screenshot of this error:

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In this days I've asked Matthew Garret and Mat Zimmerman to add other
GPL ttf fonts.(Thank You Guys!), package called "ttf-bpg-georgian-fonts
vs: 0.2" that contains this 4 fonts
made by Bessarion Paata Gugushvili :
(in alphabetical order)
BPG_Chveulebrivi.ttf -> Not usable at all :/ could we remove it in
future?
BPG_Courier.ttf - > U+10D0 - U+10FC. Bitmap embedded. Monospaced Sans
Serif
BPG_Glaho.ttf ->U+10A0-U+10FF (4256-4351) With upper case + Hand delta
hinted.
BPG_Rioni.ttf ->U+10D0 - U+10FC. Sans Serif style.

after installing them, the main interface font becomes
BPG_Chveulebrivi.ttf, that is
very ugly and crappy .

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Optimal Best settings for GNOME GUI is:

Manually chosen in Font Administration (gnome-font-properties):

Application font: BGP_Rioni
Document font: BGP_Glaho
Desktop font: BGP_Rioni
Windows tittle font: BGP_Rioni
Fixed width font: BGP_Courier

http://www.teutonici.com/Alinux/BGP_Rioni.jpg

This is absolutely the best combination (With this desision agree other
users too,I'm not alone).
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. So what should we do with ttf-freefont (Georgian side), that's not
usable, specially with small 11-10 sizes ?(+ georgian "D" letter
confusion)

2.How can we manage in the best way BGP font family ?
BPG_Chveulebrivi.ttf
is alphabetically important then BGP_Rioni and it's not good, because
every time user installs ttf-bpg-georgian-fonts package,he must change
font setting too.
So how to get "Optimal Best settings for GNOME GUI" that I've mentioned
before?

3.As I'm not an expert, can someone guide me, what should/can I do?

Thank You a lot...
