Except that every standard LCD, CRT and video card on the market does
standard resolutions: 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768, 1280x1024 and
1600x1200. In fact many LCD's have a natural resolution of 1280x1024
which translates to the numbers of physical points in the LCD.
