Hi anonymous (your forgot to sign your post ;-)
I noticed this problem too. Like you, I really don't like it either, so
I filed a bug report about it some time ago (as soon as I noticed it).

As you can see in the comments, apparently it's "normal", according to
the devs, due to a change in the way Nautilus gets the partition names.
I agree it is really really really horrible, hence my suggestion to at
least make the partition labels easily editable, to suit the users
needs/tastes.
