Tracker in Edgy?

Yes thats correct. Maybe I should have nautilus-tracker deb packages too 
on the web site.

If someone can point to me what an *official* package is supposed to 
look like then I'll be happy to alter the existing package to suit. Im 
not sure how you submit debs for inclusion into Ubuntu.

Also note that Tracker is not just an alternative to beagle but much 
much more as it provides universal database storage, extensible metadata 
(including user defined stuff) and keywords/tags for all first class 
objects.

Tracker will be better integrated in Gnome in the near future with 
Rhythmbox (using tracker to find music files and smart playlists) and 
Epiphany (using Tracker's first class bookmarks/history objects) 
integrating with it

Other areas that could benefit include making the gnome panel ask it for 
applications instead of parsing 1000's of .desktop files at startup to 
populate its menus (this would significantly increase the speed of the 
panel)
