I feel the same way. I just found out about the
ubuntu-devel-announce[1] mailing list wich is supposed to be
low-traffic (a few messages per week), and will be paying close
attention to it hoping to pick up the right time for me to make the
switch.
This isn't exactly what you were looking for, but i hope it helps.
