quick question

Hi,
I think it might be valuable to have somewhere in the documentation
some info on how to get started developing for Ubuntu. The first time
I tried building some packages with apt-get source once, after editing
the source it would complain about not being able to apply patches. A
step-by-step guide would be useful (and would have been useful for
me!). If this does exist could someone point me to it?

Cheers,
Samuel
