make a file /usr/share/gconf/defaults/20-your_brand_name containing only
the paths and values for the gconf keys (dont call gconftool) i.e.:
/desktop/gnome/interface/icon_theme gartoon
to change the icon theme ...
then run /usr/sbin/update-gconf-defaults (i.e. from a postinst script of
an artwork package that does the branding)
note that this new feature only works in dapper (and calls to gconftools
are obsolete for branding now)
you might want to have a look at edubuntu-artwork to see how its
done ....
