I hope this is not already taken care of and I'm just adding noise, but
this is something I really care about and I couldn't find any
information about:
I remember a discussion on this list some time ago(in breezy development
cycle I think), where it said one thing people really wanted was support
for graphic tablets out of the box.
Well, now I'm one of the people who would like to have this, but it
seems to be hard to implement, because the input device sections would
have to be automatically added to the xorg.conf.
But I'm currently noticing a different problem. On breezy as soon as you
added the sections the tablet worked except for some bugs, which could
be fixed by a new version of the driver from the Linux Wacom Project
[0], but wacom-tools and wacom-kernel-source has the same version
(0.6.6-8) since hoary and is pretty outdated.
Another problem on dapper is, that xserver-xorg-input-wacom is not
available anymore (probably because it got deprecated in current X.org
in favor of the Linux Wacom Project's driver). This makes the tablet
nearly unuseable.
Now obviously I'd like to suggest to you to consider to add a current
version of the Linux Wacom Project's driver to dapper, but I also
realize, that this is probably not possible, because dapper is already
in UVF.
It'd surely help to get up against Vista to have some working drivers
for Graphic tablets...
