Please, could you tell us what these couple of things are so that
we may better judge for ourselves what the pros and cons are?

I've had root enabled on all my Ubuntu boxen since about a week after I
first installed it.  The only 'problem' that I've encountered is that
you need to remember the root password when using 'recovery mode'.

(Sorry for a post like this on -devel but I _really_ would like to know
if there are problems that I should be aware of.)
