I just tried patching 'linux-restricted-modules' to add in the 'bcm2033'
firmware, the process seems a little extreme and requires 'debian/rules'
updating in about 8 different locations.
I also noticed that everything else in the package (except for 'acx/*') is
dependant on particular matching a particular version of the kernel and
requires rebuilding each time to ensure a match.
I'm therefore wondering if the Broadcom firmware would be more suited to
staying in a separate package that does not get rev'ed with the main
kernel.
It is a similar case to the 'ipw2200' firmware which currently lives
directly in 'linux-image-*'; however it differs in that the firmware is not
a /dependancy/ of the driver; other versions of the hardware already have
the firmware onboard.
Adam, can you provide some guidance on which of the following
four would be most preferable home:
main/linux-image
restricted/bcm2303-firmware
restricted/linux-restricted-modules
multiverse/bcm2303-firmware
Many Thanks,
-Paul
