i totally a gree (as the author of the gui part) that its an ugly piece
usability and design wise, but time was to short to make more out of it
in breezy. luckily the new ldm in dapper behaves and looks rather like
gdm and will be a tad more beautiful and usable ;) (and even themeable
like gdm)

its (as our ltsp) developed in ubuntu and since we collaborate very
tight with debian on these packages also with some additions from the
debian side ...
