Well, I think redrawing it takes too much CPU...

Maybe the new KAA stuff handles this.  I'm a bit worried though that all
the proposals I've heard for making X fast involve making it a lot more
complex, and some form of hardware acceleration.  Are we doomed to never
be as fast as Windows on the same hardware?
