Certainly; there are many classes of bugs which will be exhibited just as
clearly in vmware as on real hardware.

Sometimes; other times they might be hardware detection issues in Ubuntu.
If you can tell the difference, the former should be reported to VMWare and
the latter to Launchpad.

Ubuntu Desktop CD images are suitable for use in vmware, both in live mode
and for installation.  As for preinstalled images, it would be nice, but we
don't currently provide them.  As far as I'm aware, it's a manual process to
create such images.  If it could be driven by a program rather than a human,
we could probably arrange to provide them automatically.

If you have enough bandwidth to upload such huge files, and there's enough
interest in downloading them, perhaps.
