I have no such goal!   I'm simply trying to avoid *accidental* bloat!
Only if some mono app was activated *by default on login*
would adding mono to the desktop cause an increase in memory
consumption, and that's something that should be done only
after very careful consideration.

That doesn't address the problem of unintended RAM bloatage.
