What people frequently get wrong is that Dapper Drake, Hoary Hedgehog
etc are just the code-name used whilst it is developed, much the same
way as Microsoft Longhorn (a dubious name if ever one existed). the
Hoary release is Ubuntu 5.04. The release next month is Ubuntu 5.10.
It is only us that follow the development on these mailing lists that
use the code-names, when the release is made - all the printed CDs etc
and press statements refer to Ubuntu 5.04 and people who are just
going to look at it get 5.04.
The one thing that could be done to help this is that the repositories
could be renamed as 5.04 and 5.10 once the release is made instead of
remaining as Hoary and Breezy in Synaptic etc then there would be no
exposure at all to the developers code-names except by people who
choose to follow it.
