Ubuntu size?

I don't know any specifics, and it naturally varies with which
optional packages you choose to install.  I have a Hoary system
installed that is only using about 2.8GB.  That includes some optional
stuff and a bit of data.

I haven't checked specifically, but the ubuntu-* metapackages probably
just depend on different sets of packages.  For example, -desktop
probably depends on all of gnome while -minimal or -base wouldn't.
