Hi,
on my laptop I have a synaptics touchpad and usually a usb mouse. After
upgrading from hoary to breezy, X wouldn't start any more because it
could not find any mouse. I figured out that this happened because it
tried to use the device /dev/input/mice for the mouse named "Configured
Mouse". This device file didn't exist any more.
So I manually reconfigured xorg.conf and changed the file to
/dev/input/mouse0 and X started up find.
After a fresh boot, /dev/input/mouse0 doesn't exist either. Only
/dev/input/mouse1 exists and represents the touchpad X refuses to start
with "failed to initialize core devices". Only after restarting hotplugd
(sudo /etc/init.d/hotplug restart) /dev/input/mouse0 exists and X starts
fine again.
Seems to me like the module load order somehow is wrong. Anybody knows
this problem or should I file a bug report?
Regards,
Carsten
