upgrade issues:
* aptitude kept stopping with a 'too many errors' error, 3 times round
made it work.
* during handling conf file conflicts, after hitting 'z' to suspend, fg
did not resume the process - had to 'sudo killall dpkg' to get it to
stop, then 'go' again in aptitude. (Aptitude was started via 'sudo
aptitude'.
* after upgrade, X was borked-borked-borked. Several related issues:
* The debconf interface changed to look _really_ weird on my laptop. My
really weird I mean that things like "<Yes> <No>" look like "<<Yes>
<<No" and various UI corruption.
* the dpkg upgraded x config failed to bring across my ServerLayouts
and named server sections, which daniel had kindly created for me to do
external monitor This resulted in X not starting :0... and I couldn't
get the gdm 'do you want to check the log' dialogue to work - it was non
responsive. I ended up bringing ubuntu up in single user mode.
Bootsplash is nice though!
Post upgrade issues:
my xterms and uxterms went blue and strange-fonted. seb helped me here
advising to rm //etc/gnome/config/*
Thomboy appeared to be bust, popping up 'the panel encountered a problem
while loading "OAFIID:TomboyApplet"'. This appears to really be just a
api change for tomboy, but it would be nice to automatically migrate
that - i.e. to move it into my status bar automatically.
the evolution icon I'd dragged to my tool bar from the appplications
menu broke and I need to drag a new one.
other than that (and sfs-client not being installable, but thats
universe) its looking pretty darn good.
