OpenOffice.org Spellcheck, a bug or just me?

Please check that the spell checker is turned on. See
Tools/Options/Language Settings/Languages. The icon on "Default
languages for documents" / Western should show an "ABC", if the
dictionary is installed. This is the case, if the myspell-en (or another
myspell-<langcode> is installed.
